I’m not a great writer, but one principle I find helpful for practical writing is to write as if your reader is about to get bored and stop reading at any moment. Some corollaries of this are:
- Say the most important things first.
- Keep it short, if you can.
- Make sure the reader cares enough to go on, if you’re going to write something complex or difficult.
